Ladies and Gentlemen, I Give You, Rick Washington

A memoir of Rick Washington as duly noted by befriending him on facebook. Facebook has it's perks, where else would I have gotten the opportunity to get a intimate peek at this long time artist. Weird haunting art. When I told him I wanted to share his skill he gave this statement. Rick is a Dayton, Ohio artist that studied fine art at the Dayton Art Institute. On facebook he shares his work, of course you got to 'friend' him first.

'My work is all paper construction, reliefs based on the slab.Various high quality paper boards and raw paper pulp built in layers and painted with oils and metallics to make them glow in certain light. For decades I have done surrealist and abstract work, but now my heart has turned to portraits.
Specifically portraits of classic film stars from movie scenes or posed photos, also historic figures have now creeped into the mix and I make the frame to relate to the image I have to have challenges and translating an old forgotten black and white photograph into a vibrant colorful relief is now quenching my thirst."

Artwork, Artafacts, Good Friday and The Day of Evil

I searched Google for all of the above and I got posters. Really! Then I found this website, Pictures of Jesus 4 you. Humm! This must be for me I thought!  

I love the resurrected Jesus Christ because He means we are moving on, that it really is finished, but every year we go through the motions, the 14 stations at the cross.

Which, if I'm being honest are a mixture of emotions to me,  have you considered your thoughts on them?
But really, Google has everything they have just recently announced a Google Art Project which I would be proud to be a part of. But remember folks! Proverbs 16:4 and be safe in knowing that and have a great Good Friday!!!

Pineing for the Seasons Sounds

I tell Barney my rescue dog that, 'it's just mom playin' the computer' when I play the song bird sounds on the web page, he stands at the door like he wants out to bark them away, but its a few weeks till the song birds come out.  When I ask him to come pose for a picture he goes into another room. He's not handsome. When I paint birds I usually end up knowing a bit about them or doing a mini study about it's life style and so on. The Whip-poor-will is a night bird and sings a dusk, liken to an owl. An early risers bird.

The bird I really pine for as fall goes into winter months is the 'morning dove'

Just to play the sound on the computer brings hope and comfort, something like comfort food does and warm sunshine. Paintings to follow.
